Sponsored walk raises £515 for Downs Syndrome charity

On Sunday the 19th August a large group of Conservative party members were joined by their friends and relatives on a 5 mile sponsored walk organised by Cllr. Des English (County Councillor for Dalton South). The group set off at 11am from Barrow Town Hall and walked from Barrow to our association office at 93 Market Street, Dalton. Altogehter the walk raised £515 which is in aid of the local Downs Syndrome charity. Commenting, Cllr. Des English said "I want to thank all of the walkers and to all those who gave so generously to this worthy local cause." Afterwards, members enjoyed afternoon tea at the office which was kindly put on by Mrs. Brenda Lauderdale (Deputy Chair Political and Campaigning) and Mrs. Hazel Edwards (Vice President of the Association).
