Local Councillor welcomes £300,000 for vital road improvements on A590

Mid Furness District Councillor Andrew Butcher has welcomed £300,000 towards a road improvement scheme at a notorious junction at Cross-a-Moor on the A590. The money has come from South Lakeland District Council towards a bid for more funds from Highways England and Cumbria Local Enterprise partnership.

Councillor returns to Town Hall after four years

Ulverston Councillor, Norman Bishop-Rowe has been welcomed back to Kendal Town Hall after four yearsNorman said he was honoured saying "It is truly an honour to represent Ulverston once again on the District Council. It has been a long four year but it is great to be back."The long serving Conservative was re-elected in the recent local elections having lost his seat four years ago.

Tories choose new Leader in South Lakes

Windermere Councillor Ben Berry has been selected to lead the Conservatives on South Lakeland District Council  The Conservative Group on South Lakeland District Council have selected a new Leader of the Opposition, Windermere Councillor Ben Berry. The 28 year old was chosen at a meeting in Windermere (10th May 2016). Recognisable by his fiery ginger hair he has represented Windermere, Applethwaite and Troutbeck since 2011. The new Leader now works with a larger Political group after recent success in Local Elections.
