Les Hall was first elected to Barrow Borough Council as a local member for Newbarns and quickly became an influential figure, serving as the Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group before becoming the Leader of the Group in 2021. In 2022, following local government reform, Les was elected to Westmorland and Furness Council as one of the three members for the newly formed ward of Hawcoat and Newbarns.
Les plays an active role on several committees, including the Cumbria Pensions Committee, the Licensing Committee, the Regulatory Committee, and the Barrow and Furness Local Planning Committee, where he contributes to key decision-making and the governance of the region.
Outside of his council work, Les is a dedicated volunteer within the community, particularly with Furness Rugby Union, and serves as the chair of South Walney Junior School. His commitment to the local area is evident in his efforts to support local organisations and youth initiatives.
Les lives in Barrow with his wife, Frances, and enjoys growing fresh produce in his garden, as well as making jams, preserves, and other homegrown treats. A passionate rugby union fan, Les frequently travels to watch England's rugby teams compete, further fueling his enthusiasm for the sport.
