Councillor Daniel Edwards represents the Westmorland and Furness Council, having been elected in 2022 following local government reforms. Before that, he was first elected to Barrow Borough Council in 2019, where he served as the councillor for Dalton North.
Daniel lives in Askam, where he enjoys keeping fit and active, often going for walks around the local area, as well as travelling to new destinations. Daniel is passionate about local history, and he is also a proud member of the Askam History Group, where he shares his love of local history.
Professionally, Daniel works as a careers advisor, primarily supporting young people and students to explore and access career opportunities. He is also the Vice Chair of the Scrutiny Advisory Board - Health & Adults Committee, where he plays a key role in overseeing and improving health and adult services across the region.
Daniel is a volunteer director of Askam Community Centre, and is a governor of Ireleth St Peters School.
Using his locality budget, Daniel has supported many worth local causes including Askam Youthy, the Askam Lots Committee, and Ireleth St Peters School.
