Ben Cooper was first elected to represent the former Furness Peninsula ward on South Lakeland District Council in May 2021, before local government reform. In May 2022, he was elected to the new Westmorland and Furness Council as the member for Low Furness.
Ben lives locally with his wife, Becky, and is an active member of the Young Farmers Association. After studying at Durham University, he returned to Furness, where he now works at BAE Systems. A passionate and dedicated campaigner, Ben is a strong voice for the people he represents, working tirelessly to address the needs of his community.
Among his many achievements, Ben has delivered three 20mph zones to make rural villages safer, installed signs to remind motorists of children playing in local areas, secured £20,000 for the essential X112 bus service, and successfully obtained £5,000 for a new playground in Bardsea. Ben's commitment to improving the local area and ensuring it remains a great place to live is evident in his ongoing work for the community.
